Amanda has long dreamed of working in her own clinic space,
but she knows there is still stigma & taboo about people visiting a "Continence Clinic"
Lightbulb moment...
Why not join forces with her sister (who is also a Continence Nurse)
to create a Continence Clinic and
cleverly disguise it as a Book Shop ;)
Amanda has over 22 years experience as a 'Nurse Continence Specialist'.
NCS's are a rare breed of Nurses that love helping people with their bladder & bowel concerns.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Like good digestion...
A good service relies on efficiency,
providing a consistent experience
& following through on promises.

Many hands make light work...
We aim to communicate proactively to emails & calls and provide prompt updates. We all play a part in achieving good outcomes in service & care.

We are a small but mighty team!
A favourite saying is "Quality not Quantity"
We support our clients, their goals & concerns about their continence care.
APHRA has strict rules and legal requirements regarding client reviews and testimonials.
All Health Professionals (OT's, Physio's, Podiatrists, Chiropractors, Doctors etc) must abide by this too.
It is not appropriate for a client review or testimonial to say something like - "I have a urinary catheter because of my paralysis and Amanda helps me with regular changes and it's made me feel so much better, I haven't had any problems".
A client review can only go so far as a comment about the service - "Their waiting room is comfortable and their magazines are recent!"

Our venue is situated in a cute curvy Art Deco style house.
We have tried to ensure that the clinic and book shop are accessible.
Lobethal is 45min drive from the centre of Adelaide CBD; 50min from Marion Shopping Centre; 40min from Elizabeth City Centre and 25min from Mt Barker.
We are open & consulting - Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays. 10am to 4pm.
Last appt time @ 14:30. You might like a Saturday appointment if you work weekdays.
We are a private, fee-for-service provider.
Like nearly all Registered Nurses, we don't have a Medicare Provider Number, therefore we are unable to bill to Medicare. Nurse Practitioners do have a Provider Number.
We can invoice NDIS participants and this occurs after service delivery as per NDIS rules. We will need to collect a few details for NDIS invoicing purposes ie Ref Number, self/plan manager details and this is all covered in our Referral Request Form. We don't have any contracts with Aged Care providers, so will need to set this up individually case by case.
We have tried to ensure that the building is accessible for people with walkers, wheelchairs, prams and other mobility equipment & their users.
We have additional photos and descriptions here on the website.
Please do let us know if the ramps are not outside and ready at the time. We try to ensure they are positioned ready. We use moveable ramps to reduce theft opportunity. Please call us on 8389 7972 if there are any issues.
Yes, absolutely, we must have relevant Police Clearances, Working with Children Clearances, Disability related, AHPRA (Nursing) registration, Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurances, full Drivers Licence, Comprehensive car insurance. We also undertake related training modules as required by NDIS Quality & Safeguards. It's not an NDIS requirement to have policies and procedures in place as we are currently 'unregistered provider', but we do because we have high standards for our service delivery.
Yes, we can help Self-Managed and Plan-Managed participants. Unfortunately at this time we can't help Agency-Managed participants as we are not yet a "Registered Provider". We don't currently have any contracts with MAC/CHSP providers, for Aged Care clients, but please let us know if we can help. We can also assist fee-paying or compensable clients, so please contact us for a quote. NDIS rules state that Participants must be billed at the same rate that any other service user would pay. eg NDIS participant cannot be charged $100 for 1 hr assistance, when the private fee is $70/hr.
It is an AHPRA requirement that we complete at least 20hrs of self-education each year. We attend local & interstate study days, conferences, online learning via webinars, read books & journals, catch up with product company rep's to learn about new product ranges and keep study records in case we are audited!
We are also proud members of the following professional bodies -
Amanda commenced the business "Continence Confidence" in June 2021 as a sole trader. She joined forces with her sister Sarah in July 2025 to create "Chapters of Care".
We are a proudly South Aussie owned & operated girl-powered small business in a regional area!
No - Our business partnership is our own. We are not affiliated with any continence product manufacturer, medical supplier, products distributors or the like. We are proud to support local products to use day to day, as best we can. Occasionally, we might receive a small payment or gift eg for giving an educational talk. We always try to adhere to principles of honesty, integrity, quality and trustworthiness. Unfortunately, there are always bad apples in every bunch that spoil things for the rest of us trying to provide a decent, caring service. If anything changes, we will declare it.

Not just anyone can call themselves a "Continence Nurse"
The professional title recognised internationally is "Nurse Continence Specialist" or NCS for short. Years ago it used to be "Continence Nurse Advisor" or CNA for short.
To become a Nurse Continence Specialist, it takes additional post-graduate nursing education and skills development, as well as being a Registered Nurse. Specialists attend lots of ongoing professional development to ensure current evidence-based nursing practice.
Make sure the provider attending the Assessment is suitably qualified and/or very experienced. Ask them what qualifications they hold!
Nurse Continence Specialists can provide clients with nursing based assessments, management advice & evidence based strategies.
An Enrolled Nurse can be designated as a "Continence Nurse" with supervision by an RN, and with additional training in this specialised care of assessment & management.
Visit the peak professional body "CoNSA" for further professional info - www.consa.org.au
At Chapters of Care, we believe that a QUALITY Continence Assessment does take time.
We are dealing with sensitive issues that are often under-reported & ignored.
A thorough assessment visit (face to face or telehealth) takes on average 1 hr - 1.5hrs, and can be to 2hrs, depending on client complexity and need.
A decent, human generated report (we can't & don't use ChatGPT!!) can be several pages and can on average take 2-3hrs.
A Continence report helps to guide management strategies, funding & product requirements and care required.
We might also need spend time to research products to suit, order samples for you & we provide accurate pricing from suppliers.
We also offer a mobile service, so you can discuss your bladder & bowel concerns with discretion.
Our peak bodies in Australia, as we do too, advocate for a more appropriate 6-7hrs per intervention.
Our clients can be helped with -
It truly is more than just supplying a pad!!!
